The Nerazzurri are in talks to sign Stefan de Vrij in the summer on a bosman transfer.
MILANO – Internazionale are working on their big summer signing, months before the window even opens. In fact, after agreeing to terms with Lautaro Martinez, one of Argentina’s starlets, the soon-to-be free agent De Vrij is the next target that should be secured.
However, the deal is contingent on whether or not the Nerazzurri qualify for the Champions League to bring in the Dutchman. Martinez’s deal is independent of that.
Martinez cost Inter roughly €28.5 million after bonuses, as Racing Avellaneda demanded top dollar for their emerging striker.
Inter’s Sporting Director Piero Ausilio told Italian newspaper Il Giorno that everything else is still being worked on.
“Do we have an agreement with [de Vrij]? I cannot confirm something like this,” Ausilio stated.
Il Giorno is certain that the club has alerted Lazio President Claudio Lotito and has put an offer of €4.2 million net per season, significantly higher than the offer Lazio put on the table in January.
Inter are currently in 5th place, one point out of Champions League qualification.
Manchester United had previously been linked with the Netherlands’ center back.
