Over the last few hours, it was reported that Inter forward Mauro Icardi rejected his side’s latest contract renewal.
Icardi’s contract renewal has been a long and drawn out affair with the two parties not agreeing on the player’s image rights in the past. Now, however, Inter and Icardi are not in agreement over his salary.
According to Sky Sport, the Inter forward has rejected the nerazzurri’s offer of 2.6 million euros and is holding out for 3 million euros a year. However, in recent hours, they have changed their story and claimed that Icardi has not rejected any offer yet but would still like to get an increase in his salary. As of right now, he’s among the lowest earners at the club despite being among the top performers.
Many clubs from across Europe are interested in the player as many Premier League teams have been linked with the young striker in the past. Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool have all at one point or another been closely monitoring the Argentinean international.
