Roberto Mancini spoke to the media following the Coppa Italia semi-final, after his silence from the weekend.
Mancini expressed the character of his team in their performance over Juventus. The nerazzurri played into extra-time to a 3-0 scoreline but eventually fell to defeat in a penalty shootout.
The Inter tactician expressed his thoughts from the match and what’s to come ahead for his side, fighting for a spot in European competition next season:
“It was a good match. I am very happy and I congratulate the squad. I feel sorry for them as they deserve to be in the final. Inter is top of the table and we’re criticized, or losses and is still criticized. We are trying to do what we can and are disappointed to have lost a lot of points. I hope this match gives us awareness and strength to reach third place. I expect after this defeat that the team will feel like a quality side again. We are a team that is looking to build on things and go through difficult times, but this is football.
Sunday there will be an important match against Palermo, then we have two consecutive home games. We have to play these matches to win.”
