Inter’s boss displeased with the burning home loss in stoppage time against Torino and feels he should have come away with more
Roberto Mancini is visibly unhappy after his side’s defeat today. Moretti’s goal at the death punished Inter too much considering what the nerazzurri had shown over the 90 minutes of the match.
“We tried to lead game play. Sometimes football is cruel, there’s nothing one can do about it and must continue our work”, he told Sky Sport.
“On Moretti’s goal we all fell asleep defensively, displaying awful marking. There was little space: we had the ball while Torino closed themselves defending with all their men. In the last 25 metres our attackers’ quality should have come out, but there was too little movement. Clearly, I’m unhappy but we’re on the right path, today we should have won. A good start to the second half of the season would have been perfect but we can only pull up our sleeves and continue to work hard. We’re finding the right mechanisms but weren’t convincing up front”.
A word on his new men: “Shaqiri played 80 minutes in the Italian Cup and has only 5-6 practices with us but I thought he could change the game. Brozovic is a young player with great qualities. He can play in a 2-man or 3-man midfield” .
