Inter, Mazzarri speaks on Moratti and St. Etienne

Inter coach Walter Mazzarri, on the eve of the Europa League clash against St. Etienne, responded to ex-president Massimo Moratti’s comment that “football depends on results” by stating “I am concentrating on the french squad, I won’t waste time on this.”

Inter has performed poorly of late, the critics have voiced their opinions and Mazzarri has avoided any confrontation. Moratti has also chimed in in the past few days “If this situation deteriorates then I can see him (Mazzarri) in trouble.” Mazzarri responded “I don’t have time to think about what Moratti said, not even to spend an energy to reply. I am concentrating on St. Etienne. I only want my players to grow under my supervision and give their all. The jeers? If they are directed towards me before the match, I don’t hear them when we are inside. I am only concerned on the pitch if they will de-motivate the players. I don’t want jeers because they do not help us beat our adversary. For the rest, doesn’t bother me.”

On St. Etienne

“For us this is a stimulating match. We have studied our opponents, they are doing well in the French championship, we respect them. St. Etienne is a club that has prestige, they must be respected doing well in their league, which now is very close to the Italian one. We studied them well. In tomorrow’s match, whoever plays must provide pace and continue what we have demonstrated against Napoli. We are in an emergency situation in certain roles and therefore it is not easy to prepare for these matches that are just days apart. I will try to rotate the players based on who I have available. I will decide with the players themselves the rotation, which I do not call turnover.”
