There has been a breakdown in the negotiations between Inter and West Ham for the services of João Mário.
It had been reported by Sky Sports Italia that João Mário had rejected West Ham’s advances for a loan deal last week, but the Portuguese international has performed a dramatic U-turn and is now open to joining the English outfit for the remainder of the season as he struggles for game time under Luciano Spalletti.
Despite now being willing to join the London club, there are no economic agreements between the player and the club, or between Inter and West Ham.
Since joining Inter for €45 million in August 2016 after an impressive Euro 2016 with Portugal, the former Sporting midfielder has been unable to make an impact for the Nerazzurri and has struggled to adapt to the Italian game. Despite being given chances to show his worth this season, the Portuguese international has performed poorly with Inter legend Beppe Bergomi describing his performance against Fiorentina “embarrassing.”
A change of scenery could benefit the young midfielder, but the negotiations have been put on hold temporarily until an economic agreement can be reached between the two parties.
