Stefano Pioli showed his satisfaction with the way Inter rebounded from their derby loss against Juve last week in an interview with Premium Sport after his side confidently took care of Empoli 2-0 at the Giuseppe Meazza Sunday afternoon.
“It’s clear that we have to motivate each other and cling to our ambitions. Every week we try to find the appropriate ways to get us ready for our next match. We played a good game against a tough opponent. It was important to get back to winning ways. We’ve got to try until the end and give everything our maximum effort until then,” opened the Italian coach.
On Gagliardini: “I think he has all the potential to become a true leader. His leadership abilities can become the philosophy of our play one day. If we can all become leaders, we can always be a team. That’s our goal.”
On the Scudetto race: “I only like to think about the present, a little about the future and nothing of the past. Our present state is too important to push to the side for non-important states. We are only focused on things we can currently control.
On the future: “We have to stay focused because you can lose energy when you think too far ahead. It’s unnecessary. We’ll think about the future on May 29th.”
On Lazio vs. Milan: “Tomorrow I will not be cheering for Milan. I support Inter. The results I’m interested in depend on us. I’ll watch the game and hope it’s a beautiful one.”
On Palacio: “He played a great match. He came off and was visibly angry because he knows we can play better. It’s a good sign from the players and a normal sign that a forward wants more support up front. We want to finish Serie A firing on all cylinders.”
Inter’s next match sees Pioli’s side travel to 14th place Bologna in one week’s time on February 19th at 6:30 AM EST.
