Inter Manager Luciano Spalletti said “I believe we can reach fourth place”.
Spalletti spoke to Sky as he attended the Panchina d’Oro which saw Juventus Manager Massimiliano Allegri win the award for the third time in his career.
“We still have time to prove we have the quality of consistency. We need to work in a way that can build for the future, something with more solid foundations. We’re still on course and I believe we can reach fourth place”.
Spalletti was asked about the Italian national team and who the next Manager should be.
“The result distorted the team’s performance against Argentina, Italy played well.
“Luigi Di Biagio? It’s a role that has to be competed for, against names who have more experience, but he’s doing his work.
I’d say Ancelotti or Mancini, two figures with absolute value and knowledge. I like Carlo, just as I like Roberto, but it will be difficult for both”.
Mauro Icardi wasn’t called-up by Argentina Manager Jorge Sampaoli for this month’s friendlies but Spalletti made it clear that he will be at the World Cup.
“With these call-ups, Sampaoli made the choice to get to know other players.
“With Mauro two training sessions are enough. It’s not just his goals that are important, but the characteristics he shows with his personality and knowledge.
“He puts all his qualities on the table. They know him already, he’ll be at the World Cup”.
