We preview the games featuring Italian players in Ligue 1 during this crucial game week in which all three nationals are vying for top spot with their respective clubs.
PSG vs Bordeaux
PSG have high flyers Monaco firmly in their sights as they look to reclaim top spot. The club has endured a rocky season with the loss of their talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic, as well as new coach Unai Emery taking over, but they have managed to rebound from their sluggish start. They host 7th place Bordeaux and are confident of getting all three points.
Italian internationals Marco Verratti and Thiago Motta will once again play pivotal roles at the heart of the Parisians’ midfield, and will look to find another Serie A star in the shape of the in-form Edinson Cavani upfront. A 2-0 win is likely to be the result.
Stade Rennais vs Nice
Nice bounced back into contention for top 3 with a solid 1-0 win over Saint Etienne mid week, and will be looking to climb back up into 2nd place at least with a win over 8th placed Stade Rennais. Nice will be confident of a win, and will look to get as much service to star man Mario Balotelli.
The 26-year old striker has enjoyed a resurgent season thus far, but has struggled to score away from home. Nice are hoping ‘Super Mario’ can put this behind him with a vital goal over the weekend.
Balotelli has once again emerged as a focal point for Nice and the squad is having a sensational season overall. A draw is likely the result in this fixture, however.
