Patrick Cutrone said he “enjoyed” his Italy debut despite losing 2-0 to Argentina.
Italy were defeated 2-0 by Argentina at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium thanks to goals from Ever Banega and Mauro Lanzini.
Milan striker Cutrone was called-up by caretaker Manager Luigi Di Biagio as the 20 year-old is the top scorer of the Rossoneri this season with 15 goals in all competitions.
Cutrone spoke with Rai Sport after the defeat and thought that the Azzurri had a good game.
“I think we had many scoring opportunities this evening, so in that sense I thought we had a good game.
“Unfortunately, we conceded these two counter-attacks and Argentina did well to convert them”.
The Milan youngster came off the bench during the last part of the game and made his senior Italy debut.
“Di Biagio said he would give space to young players, I thank him for this opportunity and will work hard to earn my place in the squad.
“When I step on the field, I try to give my best for the team, as that is the first job of a striker. After that, if a goal arrives, that’s even better.
“I can play both as a centre-forward and with another striker. We played 4-3-3 tonight and I enjoyed it.
“I was originally called up to the Under-21 side, but when they told me in the locker room that I was in the senior squad, I couldn’t believe it”.
