Italy, Di Biagio set to recall Mario Balotelli and Gianluigi Buffon
The Nazionale Italiana may have suffered a massive blow at the San Siro, but their story is not over yet.
Luigi Di Biagio will guide the Azzurri for at least two friendlies in March before a permanent coach is signed afterwards. The project begins far away from where the old era ended. The Italians will travel to England for matches against Argentina and then against the queen’s country later that week.
Mario Balotelli has long been linked with a return to active duty with the Azzurri and give his incredible form this season, Di Biagio is obliged. With 19 goals in 25 appearances this season for Nice, it’s not too hard to imagine why he play a large part in Italy’s revolution.
Then there’s the Capitano, Gianluigi Buffon, who walked off the field in tears against Sweden as the curtains came down on an illustrious international career.
Di Biagio wants to give Buffon a different kind of sending off, not the humiliation he and his side received in Milan last November, according to Corriere dello Sport.
