Napoli midfielder Jorginho spoke to the press as Italy prepare to face Argentina in a friendly on Friday.
Argentina’s squad includes Gonzalo Higuain, now of Juventus, who was Jorginho’s teammate at Napoli from 2013 until his €90 million transfer in the summer of 2016.
“In football you come and go. Sometimes you stay in touch with some more than others, but good relations always remain”.
Speaking about the rest of the Argentina team that includes five time Ballon D’Or winner Lionel Messi, Jorginho insisted that Italy have to take advantage of the weaknesses of La Albiceleste.
“We can’t be afraid, we have to be aware of their strengths but also their weaknesses. We need to have the courage to play our football, to hurt them when we get the chance.
“It’s a very important game, when you play against national teams of a certain level it’s always an important chance.
“For us it will help us to understand where we are, and where we need to improve and grow”.
Jorginho was born in Brazil in 1991 but moved to Italy at a young age and he is of Italian descent.
Jorginho chose to play for the Azzurri and played with La Nazionale for the first time in 2016 in two friendlies.
Previous Italy CT Gian Piero Ventura didn’t select Jorginho until the play-off matches against Sweden in November and it was rumoured that the Napoli star would chose to play for Brazil instead.
“I have no regrets, this country gave me the opportunity to realize my dream, to become a footballer.
“I really wanted it, and then the call never came, then there was some talk about Brazil, and I did think about it a bit, but I have no regrets”.
