Italy, Pirlo to join Mancini staff

The legendary Andrea Pirlo is expected to join Roberto Mancini’s Italy staff.

The former Inter, Milan and Juventus Midfielder retired at the end of the 2017 MLS season and is playing his farewell match at the San Siro at the end of this month.

The 2006 World Cup Winner has openly stated in the past that he would like to have a role with La Nazionale and now Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that he will take a role in Mancini’s staff.

Mancini will be presented as the new Italy Manager at Coverciano today alongside his regular backroom staff.

Angelo Gregucci, Fausto Salsano and Goalkeeping Coach Massimo Battara will all work with Mancini in the Italy setup, as they have resolved their contracts with Zenit.

Team Manager Lele Oriali will also be handed a more serious role under Mancini.
