Juventus 2-0 Atalanta: The Bianconeri Player Ratings

Juventus have swiftly increased their lead to four points over Napoli with their win on Wednesday against Atalanta.

Gianluigi Buffon (6): Gigi could’ve brought out the ole’ lawn chair today and enjoyed a nice evening. Atalanta never troubled him.

Kwadwo Asamoah (6.5): Considering Atalanta never got a shot on target, you could say that the entire Juve defense did their jobs. Asamoah provided a lot going forward with some slick one touche passes.

Giorgio Chiellini (7): A brick wall in the back. Even went forward and caused Mancini to pick up a red card. Job well done for King Kong.

Medhi Benatia (7): Same could be said about Benatia. Hardly put a foot wrong all night tonight.

Stephan Lichtsteiner (6): A few too many giveaways to match the rating of his fellow defenders. Subbed off late in the second half for De Sciglio.

Blaise Matuidi (7.5): The king of interceptions added a goal to his season tally tonight, giving Juventus extra breathing room late on in the second half. Fundamental in bringing Juventus back to the forefront this season.

Miralem Pjanic (6.5): A little underwhelming at times but it has to be said, Pjanic’s effectiveness is curbed when he is not the focal point in the midfield. 4-2-3-1 is not his best system, but he’s still a guaranteed starter.

Douglas Costa (8): Usain Bolt would have had problems keeping up with Costa today. He assisted the opener by sprinting straight through the defense and shoveled off a clean pass to Higuain. Pedestrian. He was unstoppable today.

Paulo Dybala (6.5): Didn’t have a heroic game but he can be forgiven for the last three he has put in. Just didn’t have the magic tonight as the Atalanta midfield man marked him.

Mario Mandzukic (6): Largely a non-factor tonight in the offense but he was a monster in defense per usual.

Gonzalo Higuain (8): A goal and an assist for Higuain on the night. Doesn’t get much better than that.

Mattia De Sciglio (7): Came on late but his Pirlo-esque opened up Atalanta’s defense for Juve’s second of the night.

Alex Sandro (5): Poor performance. Looked two steps slower and miscontrolled everything. Malissimo.

Andrea Barzagli (N/A): Came on too late to make a difference.
