Juventus Continue Perfect Start

Juventus’ perfect start to the season continued as they swatted aside Young Boys and seized control of their Champions League group on Tuesday evening. A sublime hat-trick from Paulo Dybala ensured Massimiliano Allegri’s men did not miss the suspended Cristiano Ronaldo in their 3-0 victory. It made it nine wins out of nine for Juventus, ensuring it is their best ever start to a season. They look all but certain to win an eighth consecutive Serie A title, but the prize everyone now really craves is the Champions League.

If you read a sportsbetting.ag review you will notice that they are one of the top sportsbooks and you can find the best Champions League odds on the market at their site, you will see that Juventus are third favourites. Only Man City and Barcelona are given a better chance than them of lifting the trophy, but they need not fear those teams. Reigning champions Real Madrid have been seriously weakened by Ronaldo’s departure and the loss of manager Zinedine Zidane. Bayern Munich have not made much of an impact in Europe of late, and PSG never seem sharp enough in Europe. Liverpool, Man Utd and Tottenham all have their weaknesses. The stage is set perfectly for Juventus to finally grab that elusive European crown.

They have already opened up a six-point lead over Napoli and fans will hope that they can really focus their efforts on the Champions League this season. For the past couple of years they have been engaged in ferocious battles to win the domestic title, but they could do with the ability to rest players ahead of big European clashes this season. They have a big squad, but it always helps to have all your big guns fresh for those colossal European evenings.

Ronaldo was often the main reason that Juventus did not win the title, and he is now leading the line for them rather than scoring against them. He comes into his own in the Champions League knockout stages, and his utter determination to succeed should prove inspirational to his new teammates. But there are goals all over this Juventus team, particularly from Mario Mandzukic and Dybala. Juventus should remain positively terrifying going forwards, with Miralem Pjanic supplying the passes and Emre Can and Blaise Matuidi propping him up.

They may have lost the reassuring presence of Gianluigi Buffon at the back, but Wojciech Szczesny has done well so far in his stead. Welcoming Leonardo Bonucci back to the fold is a huge bonus, and a defence also featuring some of Giorgio Chiellini, Andrea Barzagli and Medhi Benatia should prove to be extremely solid once again.

Perhaps you should not read too much into victories over Valencia and Young Boys, but the manner of those wins was extremely encouraging. An over-excited Ronaldo was sent off in the 29th minute against Valencia, with the score 0-0, but they defended heroically with 10 men and secured a 2-0 victory away from home. The defence looked watertight once more against Young Boys, who were allowed just one tame shot on target. Sterner tests lie ahead, with Man Utd next up, but there is every reason to think Juventus can surge through to the latter stages of this tournament once more.

That is when Ronaldo should come into his own, and the rock solid defence can help lead Juventus to glory. It is now 22 years since they were crowned kings of Europe, back when Gianluca Vialli, Alessandro Del Pierro and Fabrizio Ravanelli led them to a penalty shoot-out win over Ajax. Juventus fans have cheered on some great players during that time, and they have twice finished runners-up in recent years, but it is time to return to the summit of European football. It would provide a massive shot in the arm for Italian football, and Juventus are the best placed Serie A club to achieve it.
