Juventus has joined the race with Napoli and Roma to sign young Bologna midfielder Amadou Diawara, according to Gazzetta.
Juve has been looking for another midfielder in the form of Isco from Real Madrid, Matic from Chelsea, Matuidi from PSG and even Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle United. However, a move for any of these players seems unlikely at the moment.
Therefore, the Bianconeri have turned their attention to Bologna’s Amadou Diawara to fill that midfield need.
Napoli and Roma are the other Serie A teams who have been speaking to Bologna about Diawara for some time now. Juventus has now entered themselves in the battle to sign the young player against their rivals.
Earlier reports had Diawara close to joining Napoli before a situation with Valdifiori blocked the move.
Gazzetta reports that Bologna and Roma will meet tomorrow, but Roma will not give up Leandro Paredes.
Juve’s interest in Axel Witsel of Zenit has not dwindled, but the sides haven’t agreed on a fee. Zenit wants 25 million euros for Witsel, but Juventus wants to pay €15 million. A few days ago, Witsel said, “Maybe it’s better I stay at Zenit for one more year,” according to Gazzetta.
If the Belgian remains for another season however, his contract will expire and Zenit will get nothing if he moves. Therefore, there may be more in store in the Juventus-Witsel saga.
With Diawara, Juventus is looking at a player who has good qualities and abilities for his age. The 19-year-old midfielder would also cost a bit less at around 17 million euros.
It seems like the future of Diawara will be decided soon. Juventus have joined the fray with Napoli, Roma and even Aston Villa for the young player’s services.
