Juventus Player Ratings vs FC Porto
- Updated: March 14, 2017
Today, Juventus dispatched of Porto rather easily by a score of 1-0 after Maxi Pereira was sent off.
Gianluigi Buffon: 6
Had very little to do, made two saves but neither of which really threatened the Juventus goal. Kept the ball moving and was never rushed when in possession.
Dani Alves: 6
Supported the attack well and defended when he had to. His corner lead to the penalty decision and put in some good crosses as well.
Leonardo Bonucci: 6
Good passing accuracy with short and long passes. Some excellent long balls from the Italian international helped to open up the Porto defence on a couple of occasions. He was decent when called upon to defend, and made one interception and one tackle.
Mehdi Benatia 5.5
His miss-control let Porto’s Soares have a free shot on goal, which he missed to spare his blushes. Passed the ball well but also lost out in physicality, losing 1 out of 4 duels. Replaced by Barzagli in the 60th minute.
Andrea Barzagli: 6
Came on and showed more control than Benatia, made an interception to stop an attack and completed all 36 of his attempted passes.
Alex Sandro: 6
His accurate header from Dani Alves’ corner kick forced Casillas to make a good save which then lead to the first-half penalty. Supported the attack well. In defence he won 4 out 5 of his duels and made 2 tackles.
Sami Khedira: 5.5
Managed to join the front-line and exploit his areal prowess but didn’t manage to test the keeper, no shots from the German international. Showed a bit more than his midfield partner.
Claudio Marchisio: 5
Wasn’t the usual Principino performance. Some very bad touches and timid passing. Didn’t impose himself on the game as he normally does, he lost out on all 10 of his duels in the match. Really off the pace.
Tomas Rincón: N/A
No time to impose himself in this match.
Paulo Dybala: 7.5
Juve’s brightest player by far, causing Porto player’s problems with his dribbling. He scored the penalty and intercepted the ball to stop a dangerous counter attack right on the first half whistle. Showed some excellent touches and played some good passes. Substituted in the 78th minute for Tomas Rincón.
Mario Mandžukić: 6
Worked hard as usual, winning 6 out of his 9 duels. Had a good chance to score with one in the first half. Not involved much in the second half.
Marko Pjaca: 6
Made use of the extra space playing against 10 men, made some good runs into the box which worried the defenders. Still lacks a bit of maturity but a good test for him.
Juan Cuadrado: 5.5
Worked hard to commit the left-back to make fouls got booked for a full on challenge. Made one good cross from deep that found Mandžukic other than that didn’t threaten. Replaced by Pjaca at half time.
Gonzalo Higuain: 5.5
Back to help his teammates to stop counter attacks and linked play well. Snatched at his chances, not managing a shot on target. Looking a bit fatigued, probably should have been rested for the weekend.
