The two subs made the difference after slow but dominant performance after FC Porto went down to 10 men from a minute of stupidity form ex-Inter man Alex Telles. Marko Pjaca and Dani Alves were the scores,  Alex Sandro, Miralem Pjanić and Paulo Dybala had good performances as Juve take a 2-0 lead to back to Turin.

(6) Gianluigi Buffon

No Saves to make one take in the air and spent the rest of the game watching his teammates win the match. He could have been sat with Leonardo Bonucci in the stands for all he was needed in this match.

(6) Stephan Lichtsteiner

Supported Cuadrado on the right. Tag teamed Telles into making a second stupid challenge. Didn’t need to defend too much and didn’t have the skill that his replacement showed.

Subbed on for Dani Alves, with pretty much his first touch he brought down a good cross from Alex Sandro and finished on the volley, after only 70 seconds of being on the pitch.

(6.5) Andrea Barzagli

Wasn’t called into action in defence and was slow moving the ball forward, but dealt with counter attacks well and was always in the right position.

(7) Giorgio Chiellini

After the red card there wasn’t too much to deal with but showed his strength when he needed to winning 8 out of his 9 duels and was there to snuff out any attacks with 3 interceptions and 2 tackles.

(7.5) Alex Sandro

Man of the Match. Was a constant threat, playing against his former club. Deliveries into the box were dangerous. One of those crosses was an assist for the second goal, finding his right back partner. Was solid in defence as well. 2 interceptions and 4 tackles.

(6.5) Sami Khedira

The for Real Madrid almost scored one passed his old captain, in the last 10 minutes and was by far his most memorable contribution. Accurate with his passing with over 93% but didn’t move the ball quickly enough to cause Porto defence problems. Decent energy as usual.

(7.5) Miralem Pjanić

Ran the game, good a stoping counter-attacks with some great positioning. He controlled the game with over 90% passing accuracy and created opportunities for his teammates with 3 key passes.

(6.5) Mario Mandžukić

Won the ball back for his team by making 3 tackles and one interception. Once again showing more of his defensive qualities than his attacking ones. He didn’t register a shot.

(7.5) Paulo Dybala

Played well he hit the post with a cracking shot from distance. Created some chances one really good one for Higuain and had a goal disallowed for a debatable offside.

Subbed off for Claudio Marchisio (NA) Helped to close out the game late on.

(6.5) Juan Cuadrado

Frustrating night. He drew the first foul by Telles. Exploited the little space he got and some characteristic wayward crossing. Had a good shot from distance from the free-kick that lead to Telles’s red card.

Subbed off for (7.5) Marko Pjaca introduced himself with a goal which came from good build up, but fell fortuitously to him but he finished it well. Created a great chance for Khedira in the last few minutes of the game.

(6.5) Gonzalo Higuáin

Worked really hard to get into scoring positions and tracking back. Had a couple of shots but nothing came off for him. A couple of better touches and he might have had a goal.
