Juventus travelled to the Bentegodi earlier today and prevailed in a narrow win thanks to a Miralem Pjanic free-kick winner.

Gianluigi Buffon (6.5) – The veteran Juventus custodian didn’t have much to do but made a nice save on Sergio Pellissier in the second half after the ball fell to him. Couldn’t do much on the penalty shot.

Stephan Lichtsteiner (4.5) – The Swiss international has started this season extremely poorly and continued in the same vein against Chievo. Gave away the equalizer after taking down Pellissier in the box and looked awkward throughout. Regression?

Andrea Barzagli (N/A) – The Juventus defender was forced off due to an injury and was replaced by Benatia. Looked his typical self before the injury.

Leonardo Bonucci (6.5) – What more can be said about Bonucci? When he’s not dictating the tempo, the Italy international is making crucial interceptions or blocks. Wall.

Alex Sandro (6.5) – The Brazilian was his typical, marauding self down the left hand flank and dominated the opposition both in the offensive and defensive third.

Stefano Sturaro (5.0) – While the former Genoa man never stops running and covers countless ground in the defensive third, his technique and first touch lets him down far too often. Simply put, he’s not Juventus, starting quality and must improve in that respect.

Hernanes (6.0) – Hernanes put in a decent shift against Chievo and controlled the tempo of the game throughout. Despite some misplaced passes here and there, the Brazilian will be happy with his performance.

Miralem Pjanic (7.5) MOTM – The Bosnian was sublime for the last thirty minutes and scored the winner in typical ‘Pjanic’ fashion from a free-kick. While he didn’t have the best start to the game, Pjanic kicked into a gear of his own to gift his side the three points.

Juan Cuadrado (6.5) – The former Chelsea man caused Chievo problems throughout with his speed and unpredictability. Picked up an assist on Mandzukic’s goal and really should have found the back of the net after his mazy run.

Gonzalo Higuain (6.0) – Higuain just isn’t doing enough at the moment in terms of link-up play and has struggled to adjust to life alongside Mario Mandzukic. The Argentine had one good chance to double Juventus’ lead but didn’t pull the trigger. Frustrated.

Mario Mandzukic (6.5) – The Croatian international is finally starting to hit some semblance of form and opened the scoring today. His tireless running and overall bullishness proved to be a crucial asset away from home against Chievo. Without Dybala in the lineup, Mandzukic is starting to step up.

Dani Alves (N/A) – Came on for Lichtsteiner to secure the result and didn’t contribute anything of note.

Patrice Evra (6.0) – The Frenchman was subbed on for Higuain after Juventus went up 2-1 and did just enough to help his side leave with the three points.

Mehdi Benatia (6.5) – Benatia has been featuring with prevalence lately due to Juventus’ injury problems and has slotted in seamlessly. A true stalwart at the back for Juventus and a more than adequate backup to BBC.
