Juventus vs Olympiakos: Player Form Guide

Juventus will take on Olympiakos at the Allianz Stadium on Wednesday in hope to get their UEFA Champions League campaign back on track.

1 – Gianluigi Buffon

News: Buffon trained normally after playing the full 90 against Torino on Saturday.

Our Take: Gianluigi Buffon faces an Olympiakos side at home in which he should keep a clean sheet. Hot favorite for your fantasy leagues.

16 – Carlo Pinsoglio

News: Nothing to report.

Our Take:

23 – Wojciech Szczesny

Our Take:

2 – Mattia De Sciglio

News: Still out with a muscular injury.

Our Take:

3 – Giorgio Chiellini

News: Chiellini returned to the fold against Torino and played the full 90 minutes. He was called up by Allegri for Wednesday’s game.

Our Take: Big Giorgio’s been damaged by injuries the past three years but is still a dominant defender for club and country. Look for him to keep a clean sheet against the Greeks.

4 – Medhi Benatia

News: The Moroccan continues to find minutes under Allegri. He played the full 90 in the Derby della Mole on Saturday.

Our Take: Very likely we see an Italian centerback pairing on Wednesday. But don’t put it past Allegri to start him if Chiellini or Barzagli have any fatigue issues.

12 – Alex Sandro

News: Sandro found the back of the net on Saturday and played the full 90 against Torino.

Our Take: As always, the Brazilian is a lock and likely to do some damage. Hot take for fantasy backlines.

15 – Andrea Barzagli

News: With defensive options crippled, there’s a strong chance Barzagli may feature in a back three on Wednesday.

Our Take: With no right back to call upon, it’s likely Allegri will deploy a back three, and Barzagli in that case would almost be a slam-dunk inclusion.

21 – Benedikt Howedes

News: Still out injured.

Our Take:

24 – Daniele Rugani

News: Was rested against Torino and if Allegri switches to a three man defense, Rugani would almost certainly be included.

Our Take: Rugani has played very well this year for Juventus and given the Greek opposition they face on Wednesday, there’s a strong chance the young Italian will be included.

5 – Miralem Pjanic

News: Played the full 90 against Torino in a dominating display.

Our Take: Pjanic had one of his best games with the Bianconeri on Saturday and heads into Wednesday’s game with a full head of steam. Out of all the midfielders playing on Wednesday, he has to be at the top of your fantasy list.

6 – Sami Khedira

News: Reincluded in Allegri’s roster for Wednesday.

Our Take: With Bentancur balling, and Matuidi doing his part, there’s a strong chance Khedira will sit this one out as well.

7 – Juan Cuadrado

News: The Colombian played 62 minutes on Saturday before being taken off for Bernardeschi. He did tally an assist before being subbed.

Our Take: It’s either hot or cold for the Cumbia lover. Cuadrado missed a glorious chance early on but managed to assist one later on in the game. Probable starter.

8 – Claudio Marchisio

News: Continuing his rehab – out.

Our Take:

11 – Douglas Costa

News: Costa played the full 90 minutes on Saturday and dazzled at times. He also trained regularly and is fit for Wednesday’s match.

Our Take: Mandzukic may be redeployed to the wing on Wednesday, which would see Costa reduced to a bench role. Hard to gauge his potential impact heading into the match.

14 – Blaise Matuidi

News: Played 72 minutes in the derby and looked solid. Subbed off for Rodrigo Bentancur with a quarter of an hour to go.

Our Take: It’s a toss up between him and Bentancur as to who will take the starting job on Wednesday. Would avoid if possible.

22 – Kwadwo Asamoah

News:  Nothing to report.

Our Take:

27 – Stefano Sturaro

News:  Nothing to report.

Our Take:

30 – Rodrigo Bentancur

News: Played well against Torino and seems to be making strides in his game.

Our Take: Bentancur is one of the world’s top prospects and it shows. If he starts against Olympiakos, he could do some damage.

33 – Federico Bernardeschi

News: Again, the Italian was subbed on late and didn’t have much time to make an impact. He came on for Cuadrado with around half an hour left against Torino.

Our Take: If only he would get a start… Potential to do some big things is there, it’s just a matter of when.

34 – Leonardo Merio

News:  Nothing to report.

Our Take:

38 – Fabrizio Caligara

News:  Nothing to report.

Our Take:

9 – Gonzalo Higuain

News: Was benched until the 80th minute against Torino and came on and bagged an assist.

Our Take: He’ll start against Olympiakos and is in desperate need of some luck. Allegri usually sparks players up by benching them for a game, so I’d expect a sizable impact from him on Wednesday.

10 – Paulo Dybala

News: Red hot. Bagged another two goals in the Derby and reached 10 goals already in the Serie A campaign.

Our Take: This. Man. Is. On. Fire. Dybala is the hottest goalscorer in Europe at the moment and is highly likely to get on the scoresheet on Wednesday. Very expensive pick for leagues, but well worth it.

17 – Mario Mandzukic

News: Hit the woodwork against Torino and played 80 minutes. Expected to play a role on Wednesday.

Our Take: Manduzkic personifies Juventus, and he’s tough to keep out of the lineup. If he’s not starting up top, he’ll likely play on the wing.

Final Take:

Oddsmakers are very confident in the outcome of this game, according to Sports Betting Dime, Juventus are a massive favourite playing at home in Turin. While the Old Lady faltered in her first Champions League fixture (309 loss at Barcelona) and lost a couple key pieces from the team that finished runner up in the UCL last year (Dani Alvez, Leondardo Bonucci) , they still greatly outlcass the Greek side , at least on paper and are off to an impressive 40- start in Serie A. Olympiacos are the weakest side in the group and already lost at home to Sporting Lisbon in ther first fixture. There will be upsets in the 2017-18 Champions League season. This won’t be one of them.
