Khedira: “We know how to tackle big games”

Juventus Midfielder Sami Khedira believes that the Old Lady’s experience will prove the difference in tomorrow’s Champions League Round of 16 second-leg.

The Bianconeri face Tottenham Hotspur in tomorrow’s Champions League Round of 16 second-leg but La Vecchia Signora are the underdogs heading into the tie as the first-leg in Turin ended in a 2-2 draw.

Khedira discussed the highly anticipated match in an interview with Stuttgarter Zeitung newspaper.

“We have a lot of experience and know how to tackle big games, and we have many other teams ahead of us – including Tottenham, we are still not satisfied after the successes in recent years, and that is what stands us apart”.

Serie A leaders Napoli have already been eliminated from this season’s Champions League and Europa League and many questioned the standard of Serie A as a result of this. Khedira proceeded to defend Juventus’ Scudetto rivals.

“This was not the Napoli I know from Serie A. They left out so many regulars in the first leg, so that tie is not a true yardstick if their quality”.

Khedira’s Juventus contract runs to June 2019 and the German International has been heavily linked with a move away from Turin this summer to the MLS. The 2014 FIFA World Cup winner hinted at possibly moving to the English Premier League before hanging up his boots.

“In general, like new challenges, as there’s so much I have not yet experienced. I’m still relatively young, I have a few years left. I still haven’t had enough in football and want to win many more titles. I am very enthusiastic about the pace and the intensity of English football, as they often play straight forward. I like that very much, yes. You can’t rule anything out in football”.
