In 1998, Lazio won their second ever Coppa Italia, a title that was made even more satisfying by the trashing of Roma in the quarterfinals. On paper, the match could only be described as a clash between titans, with players such as Roberto Mancini and Pavel Nedved for Lazio up against Roman legends like Abel Balbo and Aldair. On the pitch, however, Sven Göran-Eriksson’s biancocelesti dominated the whole game, crushing their rivals in Lazio’s biggest ever derby win. The game’s most noteworthy moment was surely Diego Fuser’s goal in the 90th minute, which drove the final nail into Roma’s coffin. The Lazio captain fired a low but powerful missile into the back of the net to coronate Lazio’s perfect day.
