The leader of the Juventus Curva, Umberto Toia, 48, is a historical figure for the Juventus fans. But today he was brutally attacked and was admitted to the orthopedic ward of a lcoal hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. It is rumored that this incident may have been part of an internal struggle for power within the Curva.
Toia was the victim of unprecedented violence; beaten with iron bars and nightsticks in Grugliasco, the city in which he manages a bar with some friends.
Toia is one of the managers of a a Juve supporters bar in Grugliasco. The attackers, who are still unidentified, encountered him in the evening- between the 23rd and 24th of December in the courtyard of Grugliasco. The attackers savagely beat him with iron bars and kicking him when he was down and concussed. Toia suffered serious fractures to his face, jaw and legs in this fierce ambush.
According to Lastampa.it, among cases examined by the police there are many accounts of fights and battles between those who run the Juventus Ultras. Before the attack, Toia had recently said: “The unification of all who root for Juventus is still only a dream for now, but certainly, its not only part of a utopia.” Umberto Toia says that he would like a unified curva, and all ultras should work together.
