Milan fans, Pato may be on his way back to the Rossoneri
IFD have been reflecting upon Ricardo Kaka’ and his departure from Milan on this day in 2009. It got us thinking though, could there be another Brazilian ‘prodigal son’ waiting to don the red and back stripes one more time?
According to calciomercato.com there may well be and he could take the form of one Alexandre Pato.
It’s been three and a half years since the Papero bid farewell to Milan for his native Brazil, where he played for both Corinthians and São Paolo. As he did in Milan, he scored goals in Brazil. A total of 55 in all competitions to go alongside the 63 he netted for Milan.
He had a decidedly less prolific 6 months at Chelsea, managing just one goal from the penalty spot against a very poor Aston Villa, but his attacking potency shouldn’t be dismissed out of hand. Putting to one side the frequent muscular injuries and love affairs with Barbera Berlusconi, he retains a flare and quality that have been long absent from Milanello.
When Pato left Milan in 2013 he did so saying, ‘one day I’ll be back’. For now any transfer may be on stand by as he remains contracted to Corinthians until the end of the year, but with a long summer ahead and Milan in no position to sniff at a low cost solution to their problems, Pato could well be back in rossonero soon.
