The former Manchester United man is close to returning to England once again. Walter Mazzari’s Watford squad is the team of interest and a deal could be in the works in the next coming days.
The former Italian U-21 international is currently a free agent, but the Daily Mirror has reported that he is ready to start fresh at Watford.
Having been previously linked to Pescara and Palermo, it seems less likely that he will be returning to play football in his home country.
Macheda spent six years as property of Manchester United before being permanently sold to Cardiff City in 2014.
In his time with The Red Devils, he scored four times in 19 competitive appearances. He was also loaned all across Europe to five different teams, including Sampdoria, Queens Park Rangers, Doncaster Rovers, and Birmingham City.
