Genoa and Roma have been linked as possible destinations for Manchester United’s Dutch full back Alexander Buttner.
Joining from Vittesse in 2012, Buttner has struggled to find a place in the Red Devils’ starting 11, and a loan move could be possible in order for Buttner to find playing time consistently. Genoa appear to be front runners for his signature, with Buttner’s agent Alexander Bursac quoted as saying:
“I know the Griffins have made a request to Manchester United, I have had contact with the Liguri and I think we can close the deal on a loan.”
When asked about Roma, Bursac remarked, “In the past I have also had contact with the leadership, but I am not aware of a recent interest in Roma with regard to my client.”
However, Buttner’s agent also went on to suggest that nothing is certain.
“Landing in Italy? Can happen during the winter transfer market, but the deal obviously depends on the intentions of Manchester United.”
