The Red Devils are set to meet Sevilla in the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
On Tuesday it was media day for both Manchester United and Sevilla before their knockout round opener
“Montella is Italian and Italian coaches all know how to organize the squad to defend. We’ll think about [the league] only after 10:30 tomorrow night.
“It’ll certainly be a difficult game,” Mourinho added.
Meanwhile, Vincenzo Montella could hardly contain himself at the prospect of coaching again in the Champions League. The first and only match he commanded was during his interim role at Roma which his side was defeated 3-0 against Shakthar Donetsk, who coincidentally the play on Wednesday themselves.
“Playing against Mourinho? I’m excited, for me he’s an innovator and when I started coaching he’s somebody I studied. It’ll be difficult for us, we’ll have to be at the top of our game physically and also mentally.
“Alex Sanchez? He’s a fantastic player that developed a lot from his time in Italy.”
“Sevilla’s anthem? I always listen to it to further understand the spirit [of the club] and to get better with my Spanish. I’ll sing it tomorrow.”
