Roberto Mancini praised Inter pair Mauro Icardi and Mateo Kovacic saying they will be the future of Inter as they prepare to face Celtic in the Europa League tomorrow.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Mancini had only positive things to say about the Argentinian forward.
“He can still improve a great deal because he’s so young. No 22 year old knows everything about being a striker – he can definitely get better in all areas of his game. He can be one of the top strikers around for the next ten years.”
This season, Icardi has scored 15 goals in 28 appearances for the nerazzurri and the club is looking to tie him down to a new long term contract.
Kovacic scored as Inter defeated Cagliari 2-1 to make it three wins in a row in Serie A on Monday evening, however the Croatian wonder-kid had not started the last 3 games and questions were being raised about his future at the club.
Mancini spoke about Kovacic mentioning how he had him followed at Manchester City when he was in charge at the club and how he is similar to Icardi.
“I had him also followed at City. He was a player we could have signed. He has great quality, is a young guy and therefore still needs to improve in many things, as Icardi. They will be the future of Inter but probably need to improve.”
