Juventus director Giuseppe Marotta discuses Paul Pogba’s departure and the failed pursuit of Axel Witsel this past transfer window.
With the conclusion of the summer transfer window, Giuseppe Marotta has had plenty of time to think of his dealings these past few months. Talking to Jtv Marotta had the chance to discuss what occurred with Pogba, a well as what happened between Zenit & Juventus for Witsel. He told the reporter:
“It was a a satisfying transfer window to us. We closed on many of the deals that we had identified. We never wanted to sell Pogba. He decided on a change of scenery, and when one has an idea like that it’s not possible to go back on it.
When asked about the failed move for Witsel, the sporting director said:
“The Witsel move was a possibility, the agreement with Zenit was there, and the player was going to take his medical. Then the fact that Zenit hadn’t found a replacement for him blocked, or in fact, postponed the move.”
Thus it seems that the Belgian international’s arrival seems a guarantee either during the next winter transfer session or as a free agent next summer.
