Two struggling teams, AC Milan and Bologna meet on Wednesday, to battle it out for the three points.
ACM Manager Max Allegri is again being criticized left and right, is it “just another slow start”?
While the Rossoneri are the stronger side on paper, the wonderful game of calcio is not played on paper, and Milan’s annual weak start is in full swing. Still Milan boast the better squad, and hope to cope well without Mario Balotelli, who was suspended for three games after the Milan-Napoli match. Andrea Poli is set to make a full return this week and Valter Birsa, Ale Matri and Robinho are expected to start this match. Milan comes off a 2-1 loss to Napoli, where Mario Balotelli missed his first professional PK. So far Milan has beaten only one squad in Serie A, Cagliari. They drew with Torino and lost to the Partenopei last weekend. Milan will look to turn it around against Bologna, who has also been struggling thus far.
Bologna comes off another draw to Torino, and have not won a single game in Serie A so far this season. Alessandro Diamanti and Rolando Bianchi do not have the same chemistry as Diamanti and Gilardino, now at Genoa, had last year, and have been struggling to score goals. Still they must fight through this dry patch, unless they want to end up in Serie B. Club owner Albano Guaraldi recently admitted he regrets purchasing the club two years ago, and is looking to sell the squad. Can Bologna beat the Milan giants?
Either one of these squads could realistically win, as both are struggling. Milan without Balotelli is comparable to Rome without the Coliseum. With Balotelli suspended, this tough matchup for Bologna has become a much easier one. This game is going to be nerve-wracking for both sides, as they both need the three points desperately. Betting against Milan in this matchup is quite difficult, but A Bologna win is surely not too farfetched at this point in time.
