Match Preview: AC Milan vs Napoli

This Sunday, AC Milan takes on SSC Napoli. Both of these teams played in the UEFA Champions Leagues, but while both teams won, they also won in very different ways.

Milan won scrappily against Celtic in the San Siro, while Napoli dominated last year’s UCL Silver medalists, Borussia Dortmund. Napoli got goals from Gonzalo Higuain and young starlet, Lorenzo Insigne. Milan got a deflected OG on the shot by Cristian Zapata, and a tap in from Muntari.

While the Rossoneri beat Celtic 2-0 on Wednesday, they had a dangerously similar result in the last round of Serie A. They played against Torino, in Turin and drew 2-2. This isn’t the worst result, but the way it happened concerned many Milan fans around the world. They got an weird Muntari shot which found its way in, and a Balotelli PK in the 97th minute. They were down for all of the second half really, just getting dominated by Alessio Cerci and co.

The Rossoneri will not have many players available due to the injury crisis, but Ignazio Abate, Riccardo Saponara, Andrea Poli and M’baye Niang will return fully. Poli and Abate will likely start at kickoff. Missing this game with injury is Daniele Bonera, Mattia De Sciglio, Matias Silvestre, Giampaolo Pazzini, Stephan El Shaarawy, Riccardo Montolivo, and Ricardo Kaka.

The Partenopei will come off a great result from the 2-1 win against Dortmund, but before that they dominated Atalanta in the Serie A. Gonzalo Higuain and Jose Callejon are on fire, and both of them scored vs Atalanta in week 2. Captain Paolo Cannavaro (the brother of the legend Fabio) hasn’t played under Benitez much. Marek Hamsik is doing fantastic, scoring 4 goals already for Napoli.

Napoli has no significant injuries at this moment, meaning the squad will be a full strength come kickoff.

This will be a very interesting match, and both teams will push for the three points. Milan wants to escape the rut they have started in, feeding off the momentum of the Celtic game, while Napoli wants to continue the stellar results they have produced thus far in the season. This will be a fantastic match, and any football fan will look forward to this great conflict.
