Match Preview: Chievo vs Udinese

Udinese travel to Verona, ready to face a Chievo side who are still looking for their first win of the season. The Mussi Volanti have conceded seven goals in two games, and it is a stat that Udinese will be looking to worsen, at the Bentegodi on Saturday afternoon.

Puggioni – The Chievo keeper could be in for a busy 90 minutes.

Chievo head into this game off the back of two heavy defeats, and despite dominating some parts of the game against Lazio last weekend, their defence has come under intense scrutiny. The central defensive partnership of Bostjan Cesar and Paul Papp, have struggled to cope with the attacking talent that was thrown at them in recent games, and there is no reason for that to change against Udinese this weekend, who have the capabilities to cause havoc in the Gialloblu defence. Considering that they controlled most parts of their game against Lazio, Sannino is most probably going to name an unchanged side, apart from Alessio Sestu who is touted to be replaced by Paraguayan winger Marcelo Estigarribia.

Udinese know that they cannot take Chievo lightly, but they will definitely believe that a win is possible if they can perform to the best of their abilities. The Zebrette will be boosted by the return of Dusan Basta, who is likely to start on Saturday having recovered from his recent injury. With Brkic still out injured, Croatian goalkeeper Ivan Kelava will take his place yet again, in front of a three man defence of, Danilo, Domizzi and Naldo. The lineup will be spearheaded by Luis Muriel, who Guidolin will play just in front of Di Natale in his 3-5-1-1 formation. Having missed out on qualification to the Europa League group stage this year, Udinese’s morale has been a little low, but a win away from home this weekend, could possibly kick-start their season.
