Match Preview: Palermo vs Inter

Inter are flying high heading into their game in Sicily, after a rampant 7-0 win against Sassuolo in their previous domestic match. Walter Mazzarri will be urging his players to keep up the intensity against Palermo, a side who are still looking for their first victory of the season. The Rosanero coach, Giuseppe Iachini, has never lost to the Nerazzurri and will be hoping that he can keep that run going when the reigning Serie B champions square up to one of Italy’s heavyweights.

After a draw in their opening game, Palermo were unlucky to succumb to defeat against Hellas Verona on Monday evening, in a game where they should at least have come away with a draw. One of the main talking points from that match was the Aquile’s high defensive line, particularly from set-pieces, which often put them in trouble that should have been avoided. It is yet to be seen as to whether Iachini rectifies this issue, however it is extremely likely that Bamba will make his first Serie A appearance in place of Moroccan defender, Feddal. The only other change expected in Palermo’s lineup is with regard to the left-wing back position, where Daprela is set to be replaced by Lazaar.

The visitors however, are expected to make five changes to the side that beat Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk on Thursday night in Kiev, with Ranocchia coming in for Campagnaro in defence, Medel and Kovacic replacing M’Vila and Kuzmanovic in the heart of the midfield, Osvaldo starting in place of Guarin up front, whilst Jonathan will return in place of goalscorer, D’Ambrosio at right-wing back. Mazzarri will be hoping that his rotation policy pays dividends, as with Europa League football to contend with until Christmas, at least, his players will be needing ample time to rest, especially with a long haul to Azerbaijan on the agenda.
