Napoli seem like they are back to winning ways as they followed up their 1-2 away win at Crotone with a 2-0 victory over a struggling Empoli side. Here are the ratings we gave the Napoli players;
Pepe Reina (7): Had close to nothing to do for the first half but the Spanish international stayed on full alert and pulled off two fantastic saves in the second half to secure a clean sheet and a victory for his side.
Christian Maggio (5.5): The former Italian international did not make any big mistakes in the place of Elseid Hysaj but his lack of pace did allow Empoli to get behind Napoli’s defensive line on a few occasions.
Kalidou Koulibaly (6.5): Another solid performance from Napoli’s stalwart centre-back. On top of his usual defensive efforts, Koulibaly also made a number of contributions to his side’s attacks.
Vlad Chiriches (7): A very solid performance to secure a clean sheet as well as a goal to cap off a great, but rare performance for the former Tottenham man.
Faouzi Ghoulam (6): Not the best performance for the Algerian after being given a break over the weekend. Solid at the back and a number of attempts on goal were cancelled out by a few wasteful crosses.
Allan (6.5): A very typical performance from Allan. Made sure his presence was felt in the midfield, breaking up and creating play well.
Jorginho (6.5): A very good performance from the Italo-Brazilian who showed off his excellent passing throughout the match. Also had a spectacular effort on goal which forced a save from Skorupski.
Piotr Zielinski (6): Not his best performance so far in a Napoli shirt, but the former Empoli man did create a few opportunities for his teammates against his former team.
José Callejon (7): Napoli’s ever-present winger was given very little space by the Empoli defenders but still managed to show his class and ability, creating a number of chances and coming close to goal himself.
Dries Mertens (7.5): After his brilliant form this season, Mertens was given the chance to play in the false-nine role and managed to score the opener after numerous efforts. A great game in which he gave the opposition defence a tough time.
Lorenzo Insigne (6.5): After poor recent performances, Insigne was given the chance to impress from the start. Helped a lot in Napoli’s attacking phase and created numerous chances for his team.
Amadou Diawara (6): Just days after his full debut, the 19-year-old put in another performance that shows he already has the ability to start for most teams in Italy. Solid 20 minutes from the youngster.
Marek Hamsik (6.5): Although only being on for 20 minutes, the club captain seemed determined to create another goal for his team and put in a very commanding cameo performance.
Elseid Hysaj (N/A): Brought on by Maurizio Sarri for a tired and struggling Maggio, Hysaj was only given around 10 minutes on the pitch today.
