Roma continued their good form in Serie A mith another victory, and this coming against Sassuolo tonight by a score of 3-1 at the Mapei Stadium.
With this victory tonight the Giallorossi keep themselves 2 points behind of current leaders Juventus.
Wojciech Szczesny (5.0): It was another rather pedestrian match for the Polish international, who had a few questionable moments when leaving his line to tackle the Sassuolo forwards. On Cannavaro’s goal Szczesny has no faults.
Kostas Manolas (5.5): Although it seemed like he and defensive partner struggled at time on the counter attack, Manolas had a rather solid game. The only thing that prevents the Greek from getting a higher score is the goal conceded.
Federico Fazio (5.5): He still does seem to have some gellling issues with Manolas, with the passing of the games he seems to be more comfortable, showing himself to be not only good with his head, but also when tackling with his feet.
Alessandro Florenzi (6.0): The Italian right back continues to perform admirably, wherever he is put on the field. His good reparte with Salah allows them to wreak havoc on opposing wingers. Unfortunately he was taken out of the match following an injury to his right knee.
Emerson Palmieri (6.5): Following some lackluster performances, the young Brazilian seems to have impressed Spalletti as of late. In his past two showings, both starts, Palmieri has made a case for himself after some good defending and some good offensive play.
Kevin Strootman (6.0): The strong midfielder put in another strong performance. He and Daniele De Rossi were able to aid their defense and quickly advance upfield throughout the match. Without Strootman, Roma would have had a hard time winning this match.
Daniele De Rossi (6.0): It seems that De Rossi has finally lost his demons when he wears the captain’s armband. He continues to put up nice results without many disciplinary actions.
Radja Nainggolan (7.0): Nainggolan seems to have found himself in Spalletti’s trequartista position. He is often able to get the ball to Dzeko in good position, and frequently finds himself with a shot outside the area. His goal was a long time coming.
Stephan El Sharaawy (5.5): A very quiet match from Il Faraone, who today was unable to score a goal. However he seemed rather absent from play throughout most of the match. His good help on defense gets him the passing grade.
Mohamed Salah (7.0): Another great match from the ‘Egyptian Messi’ who wreaked havoc on opposing defenses. His ability to play on both sides of the field was greatly exulted in this match, as well as his great understanding with Dzeko.
Edin Dzeko (8.0): This is the Dzeko that Roma signed last year. With today’s brace, Dzeko has scored 10 goals in 10 appearances this season. Once again Dzeko found himself in the right place at the right time, and drove the ball into the bottom right hand corner, and also blasted a penalty past a diving Consigli.
Leandro Paredes (6): Came on an ran but did nothing of note.
Antonio Rudiger (6): Made his long awaited return to duty following his ACL injury last season.
Francesco Totti (N/A): Came on for a cameo to replace Florenzi.
