Here’s how we rated i nerazzurri:

Goalkeeper:

Samir Handanovic (5): Had nothing much to do other than pick Pellissier’s goal out of the net. Distributed well when he was given the ball.

Defenders:

Danilo D’Ambrosio (4): Wasn’t able to overpower his mark and it cost a dominant Inter the lead in the 34th minute of play When Pellissier overpowered Danilo and squeezed a ball past Handanovic on a corner.

Joao Miranda (6): Didn’t do anything wrong on Chievo’s goal and had a sound performance otherwise.

Jeison Murillo (6): Had little work to do in the first half, however, when called upon in he second, always did his job.

Christian Ansaldi (4.5): A constant threat down his wing going forward. Was shaky defensively. Subbed off for Eder in the 60th as Inter looked to implement a more attacking formation.

Midfielders:

Roberto Gagliardini (7): The Italian looked completely up to the challenge in his Inter debut. He was a great creative option as well as helped create a sound defensive unit with Kondogbia in the midfield. Could’ve had a brace had Chievo keeper Sorrentino not had the game of his life. The best on the pitch with the ball at his feet. A stalwart performance from the Italian.

Geoffrey Kondogbia (6): Was accurate and precise. Won countless battles all over the pitch and moved the ball to open outlets on the wings with great resolve.

Joao Mario (5): Didn’t have his best game. Was rather too safe. Subbed off in the 70th minute after helping Inter find the back of the net.

Forwards:

Antonio Candreva (6): Never afraid to try a long distance shot. Was chaotic. Always an option down the wing and whipped in a wonderful cross to assist Icardi in the 70th minute as Inter drew level.

Ivan Perisic MOTM (8): The Croatian winger was a force on all fronts today. He whipped in countless crosses and got in the box to get on the end of crosses. Found the winner for Inter late on after weaving through the defense and slotting past Sorrentino with grace. This is Perisic’s second game-winner in as many games.

Mauro Icardi (6.5): Constantly involved in almost every Inter attack. Got wide as well as lurked in his normal central area. Clinically finished Candreva’s cross to level the match in the 70th which would ultimately catalyze Inter’s surge to find another two goals.

Substitutes:

Eder (6): Came on in the 60th minute to give Inter an added boost in attack as i nerazzurri looked to level the match. Finished off the match in injury time with a wonderfully taken drilled shot from the top of the penalty area t give Inter a 3-1 win.

Ever Banega (5): Came on just after Inter leveled the match in the 70th minute. Looked a bit sluggish but moved the ball around nonetheless.

Rodrigo Palacio (6): Came on in the 83rd minute to help Inter find the winner and instead helped get the insurance goal in the 91st minute when he assisted Eder.

Coach:

Stefano Pioli (8): His ability to get the best out of this Inter squad is nothing short of impressive. Pioli has effectively constructed an Inter squad that cares. His substitutes work and his heart is showing.
