Matchday 26: Roma player ratings vs. Inter
Roma emerged 1-3 winners over Inter in convincing fashion, as the Giallorossi continue to target Juventus who are still a number of points ahead of them. Radja Nainggolan was at his brilliant best with a brace, along with Perotti’s solitary strike to round out the result.
Here is how each player fared for Roma:
Szczesny 6 – Was not tested until the final minutes of the first half as he was protected brilliant by his defenders, and he only conceded in the 81st minute as Icardi lashed onto a close range strike. Szczesny was capable all game and marshaled his defense with aplomb.
Rudiger 5.5 – Slowly returning to the Rudiger of last year after his serious injury concerns overall decent display, however still not at his best.
Fazio 6 – Has been a rock all season in the middle and he continued his form in this match. yellow carded in the 83rd minute but did not blemish an otherwise positive performance.
Manolas 7 – Easily Roma’s best defender on the pitch and is little wonder many teams around Europe are after this man. Was able to command his back line and essentially stopped Eder and Perisic from causing much damaged
Juan Jesus 6 -Ran up and down the wings relentlessly to provide both defensive and offensive pressure when needed. Solid night from the Brazilian.
Nainggolan 9 – Utterly destructive in the middle of the park, as the star of Roma’s midfield ran riot with a brace. Was assured in the middle and drove the team forward. Roma would be devastated to lose such a good player next season.
Strootman 6- Put in another good shift alongside Nainggolan and De Rossi. Provided good cover in the middle and played the ball around when needed.
De Rossi 7 – Yellow carded in the 40th minute but has continued his resurgence in form with another fine display, cleaning up and providing a buffer for the defensive line. Subbed in the 84th minute for Paredes
Bruno Peres 7.5 – Got an assist for Nainggolan’s second goal for the evening, and made a vital block on Perisic’s attempt. Very good display by the Brazilian and was subbed in the 89th of Vermaelen
Salah 6 – Is usually one of Roma’s most vibrant attackers however he was unable to notch a goal or assist in this game and was subbed off for Perotti on the 71st minute.
Dzeko 7 – Roma’s highest goalscorer this season continued to threaten Inter’s defenders as he looked to increase his already impressive tally. This didn’t occur but he did tee up Nainggolan’s first goal and held up play when needed to bring in the rest of Roma’s attacking midfielders
Perotti 7 – Came off the bench and scored the winning penalty to ensure Roma got the win.
Paredes – Had little more than 10 minutes, and simply went about his business to make sure Roma maintained their lead.
Vermaelen N/a – Not enough time to make an impact.
