On Thursday, A.C. Milan and Azzurri fullback Mattia De Sciglio spoke about the upcoming quarter-final bout with Germany at the press conference.
De Sciglio, courtesy of vivoazzurro.it:
“I can say that we’re preparing as well as possible for the match on Saturday. Our strength as a team can cause them problems. They attack with a lot of players, and we have to stop them playing around our box and then counter at pace.”
The 23-year old defender on his side’s preparation for the 2014 World Cup winners:
“We’re watching lots of videos to see how to press them and when to let them come to us. We’ll find a way of troubling them. Germany are a physically stronger side than Spain and they’re world champions, but, with determination, we can compete. Spain were stronger on paper but we showed that it’s what happens on the pitch that counts. We must do the same against the Germans.”
Continuing on, the Rossoneri man praised the talent and longevity of Barzagli, Bonucci and Chiellini:
“Germany have a very good defence. We have the Juventus trio who guide us; they’ve not been winning for 5 years for nothing.”
De Sciglio on Antonio Conte:
“Conte has helped me a lot. I’ve always felt his loyalty, he called me up even when I wasn’t at my best. He would be on the pitch with us if he could be. He’s taught us to fight for every inch and he transmits determination.”
With a promising performance in the 2 nil win over Spain, De Sciglio will look to carry that over to Germany on Saturday should he get the starting nod once again.
