Inter coach Walter Mazzarri spoke about his side’s impressive performance as they thrashed Sassuolo 7-0 in their opening home game of the season.
For the second time in just under a year, the Nerazzurri have beaten the Neroverdi 7-0. Mauro Icardi scored a hat trick while Pablo Daniel Osvaldo got a brace. Mateo Kovacic and Fredy Guarin scored the other two goals in their side’s huge victory.
During an interview with Sky Italia, Mazzarri wasted no time in praising his young team after their performance.
“We were great on the ball today,“ said the 52-year-old tactician. ”Every time we had the ball, we did something productive.”
“We played the kind of football that I like. We were aggressive and we took on the opponent. We have to play like that on a consistent basis and be decisive.”
“Kovacic is a great player, who has just started learning about defensive duties. He’s still learning and today when he was on the ball, he was always moving. Always looking for that crucial pass.
“[Gary] Medel was great. It takes someone like him to implement this kind of football and the right bank account! He was great at getting the ball onto the wings that had Dodo and [Yuto]Nagatomo.
“We are a young team. Today there were four young players, who played against the older players and played well. There are so many reasons about how easy it is to train a group like this.
“A group who wants to do well and succeed. I see the right spirit and I’m glad.”
