Milan’s coach spoke to Mediaset Premium following today’s 2-1 defeat to league leaders Juventus.

Mihajlovic on today’s performance:

“This evening it wasn’t just three points at stake, but also our pride and our honour. We didn’t want to lose face again. We can hold our heads high, having played on level terms with Juve. I saw hunger, character and intensity. Gigi Buffon needed two or three great saves and he made the difference. We must continue with this determination, as the psychological aspect has always been our real problem.”

Mihajlovic on this week’s training retreat:

“The retreat can be useful once, but not all the time. I did it to send a signal. We needed time to talk, confront each other and identify the problems. After the last confrontation, we saw the results this evening.”

Mihajlovic on speaking about the future:

“This performance does give us confidence going into the next games and the Coppa Italia Final. The important thing we learned is it’s a psychological issue. If we play like this against clubs behind us in the table, we’ll win.”

Milan will be back in action next Sunday evening when they travel to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris to take on sixteenth place Sampdoria.
