Milan boss Sinisa Mihajlovic expressed disatisfaction at his side’s 1-0 defeat to Bologna to kick off the new year.
After the game the former Sampdoria boss was interviewed by Sky and said,:
“It’s a defeat that burns as we made too many mistakes. Our defeat wasn’t due to poor luck. We had at least five chances in which we were one on one with the keeper but we weren’t able to find the breakthrough needed. Then towards the end of the game we took a risk and we paid for it with a defeat. We have to win games early on as it’s not good to leave games in the balance for too long. Now we must remain calm as we need to keep working. We will move forward and see what happens. “
When asked about his future and if anyone from the club has contacted him, Mihajlovic said,:
“I’m thinking about the next game. I can’t think of anything else before that. Ask the president, I only worry about coaching.”
On the lack of playing time Luiz Adriano has received, Mihajlovic said,:
“Bacca is our leading goalscorer while Niang has important characteristics and moves well. We then only have Adriano and use him when we think he could do well. Of course when you lose, your choices are seen as mistakes. Every time Adriano comes in, he does good.
The Milan tactician was also asked to talk about the atmosphere at the San Siro. He said,:
“The players are professionals. Today they did everything they could. When you play for Milan, pressure is normal. The players have to get used to this and have to know how to act in this situation.”
Mihajlovic then shed light as to why Milan have continued to struggled. The fiery manager confessed,:
“If you can’t score goals, you won’t win games. There are a lot of things to improve. Today we had 16 shots on target. We created chances but we just couldn’t finish.”
Mihajlovic concluded his interview by responding to a reporter’s question that labelled his players are egotistical. He said,:
“It’s true. Cerci was alone with the keeper and should have passed to Bacca. If you try to dribble the keeper, you must score. This was a chance that he could have done better. He’s been off form for a bit of time now but we won’t lose faith in him. We have to keep working hard.”
