Through Milan’s official channels this morning, the team announced that defender Cristian Zapata suffered a fracture in his foot against Sassuolo.
The Rossoneri won 2-1 against Sassuolo earlier this week in Coppa Italia action, with Zapata playing the entire 90 minutes.
However, after Milan communicated today, the team released a statement saying that Zapata will be compelled to stop playing after suffering a bone fracture in his right foot.
The official statement said:
“AC Milan communicates that in the final minutes of Milan-Sassuolo, Cristian Zapata, following a challenge with another player, suffered a bone practice at the base of the second metatarsal in his right foot”
His recovery time has not yet been disclosed, but it is believed Zapata could be seen out of action for up to a month.
