After the signings of Gagliardini and Deulofeo respectively, both Milan clubs remain active on the transfer market as they appear set to battle it out for Cagliari youngster Nicolo Barella.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Milan are very keen to sign the Cagliari midfielder who would fit in with Milan’s philosophy of playing with a young, Italian core. At just 19 years of age, Barella has already made 18 appearances in the league for Cagliari who currently find themselves in 11th place in the table on their return to Serie A.
The fact that Barella has been able to break into the first team of a Serie A side at such a young age has also caught the attention of Milan’s city rivals, Inter Milan. According to Rai Sport, however, AC Milan are currently leading the race with their sporting director, Massimiliano Mirabelli, establishing first contact with the rossoblu.
With only a few days left in the January transfer window, it will be interesting to see if the teenager decides to leave Cagliari and, if so, which Milan club he chooses to take the next step in his promising career.
