Gianluca Lapadula started in place of Carlos Bacca on Sunday night. The ex-Pescara man performed above par for Montella and the Rossoneri. He spoke to Sky Sports after the final whistle.
“I’m very happy for the team. We are on the right track. The most important thing is the collective effort. As for me, I’m happy about my performance.”
The 26-year old impacted the match with his constant pressure and activity, forcing Chievo into making several costly mistakes which resulted in two goals. Though he was denied his first Milan goal a few times, Lapadula remains optimistic that they will arrive soon:
“The goals will come. It’s only a matter of time.”
Lapadula was given the start in the 3-1 win over Chievo Verona to ensure first-choice striker, Carlos Bacca, was fresh for next weekend’s clash with Juventus. Despite likely returning to the bench v the Bianconeri, Montella must be pleased with the way Lapadula performed.
