After Milan came away with all three points against a tough Fiorentina side, the club’s captain, Riccardo Montolivo, expressed his satisfaction with the way his team performed.

Riccardo Montolivo after the 2-0 victory at the San Siro, via acmilan.com:

“We needed a good win against a side ahead of us in the league table and we’re very happy and satisfied with the outcome. However, we’re fully aware that there is still a long way to go.”

“Good performances inevitably lead to a good reception from the fans and tonight they saw a great match with lots of hard work from the team. The commitment and spirit though from the team has always been there. We played well and we’re pleased.”

The rossoneri captain on the approach:

“We aimed to close down the space between their midfield and attack. We had to be compact and we did that well tonight. The forwards also tracked back and helped out.”

The ex-Viola midfielder on the return of Boateng and Balotelli:

Boateng and Balotelli are two important options for the team. They still need to work on their match fitness, but they can have an impact coming off the bench.”

The Italian midfielder on the upcoming match against Empoli:

The next match with Empoli won’t be easy. They are a good and organised team and we will have to prepare thoroughly.”
