The future surrounding the ownership of Milan looks set to be resolved as Tom Ricketts’ is believed to become a controlling stakeholder.
Earlier today Yonghong Li failed to pay a €32 Million capital increase and his shady ownership of Milan has created doubts with regards to his finance. The Chinese Businessman has until July 10 to pay back the €32 Million or he will lose control of the Rossoneri.
In recent weeks Yonghong Li has been looking for other investors but it seems he has been unable to find any other investors.
A recent development in the last 20 minutes has seen MilanoFinanza claim to have received an email from the Ricketts family who have confirmed that the owner of the Chicago Cubs would like to take over the Diavolo.
Andrea Montanari has quoted the email as saying “The Ricketts Family (not just Tom) are interested in acquiring a controlling stakeholder in AC Milan.
“While Tom is the point person, the entire family and the family’s financial resources are involved in this matter, just like their ownership of the Cubs.
“The Ricketts Family brought a championship to the Cubs through long term investment and being great stewards of the team, its ballpark, the fans and the city of Chicago. They would bring this same approach to Milan”.
MilanNews has added that negotiations are in an advanced stage and that an agreement is close.
