Milan boss Vincenzo Montella highlighted his satisfaction at his side’s result and claims it was fully deserved.
In his post-match interview with Sky Sports, the former Sampdoria boss told reporters:
“We played with pride, without getting fatigued. Today the side showed great strength. It wasn’t going to be easy, we knew that. I have to give credit to our opponent. From what I saw in the second half, we deserved to win in a hard game. With this group spirit, we could go far. Now we quickly shift our attention to Lazio, there’s not much time to prepare for that game.”
Do you regret not playing Bacca from the start of the game?
“He scored a great goal off a great move. I’m happy with Lapadula’s performance, he played with and for the team. I’m also happy with Bacca who came onto the field with the right attitude. They can absolutely coexist depending on the tactics. They can play next to each other.”
Niang is becoming an important player for you guys.
“In terms of physicality and what he offers one on one, yes. On the other side, we ave Suso and Honda. He’s contrasting their characteristics nicely and is fitting in. But he’s grown a lot. My objective as a manager is to make the most players grow. I’m trying.”
