Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Montella and defender Nenad Tomovic presented tomorrow’s Europa League match versus Paços de Ferreira at Alfonso Henriques stadium.
Tomovic: “We aim for top spot and for victory, always. In Udine we played poorly in the second half and must respond to that with tomorrow’s performance and gain top spot in our Europa League and avoid the teams who will be relegated from the Champions League”.
Montella, analyzes Sunday’s defeat versus Udinese: “One must analyze how the players interpreted the tactics, but also their reaction once Udinese scored their goal. We lacked the mental toughness to recuperate the match”.
“With respect to tomorrow’s match, our current position in our Europa League group allows us to give some players some respite in order to be ready for the next domestic league match. But make no mistake, we want to go as far as possible in this competition”.
What about Europa League novice Paços de Ferreira? Their new coach, Henrique Calisto says that Fiorentina is a candidate for the final victory, what do you make of that? Montella: “Paços de Ferreira can be an insidious adversary as they have recently changed their coach, who likes to hold his defensive line deeper than his predecessor. I hope Calisto remembers his kind words and lets us win [Montella laughs]”.
When asked about whether Ilicic will feature tomorrow, Montella was ambiguous: “He did well last Sunday despite the fact that he’s returning from injury. He will take some time to come into form, and at that point he will be able to demonstrate all his technical qualities”.
Pacos is warned.
