Roma ran rampant at Napoli’s Stadio San Paolo this evening and emerged victorious in am impressive 4-2 win.
Here are the Giallorossi player ratings.
Alisson (8): After conceding an early goal to Insigne, Alisson was simply a wall for Roma tonight as Napoli couldn’t find a way past the Brazilian International. A world class double save from Insigne was his highlight of the night. Roma’s victory is partially due to the fact that the Brazilian was unstoppable between the sticks tonight.
Alessandro Florenzi (7): Despite Lorenzo Insigne winning the battle between the two, Florenzi maintained a good distribution and rather than letting Insigne cut inside he always forced the Italian International to go round the outside. Was very attentive in dealing with Insigne.
Kostas Manolas (6): Napoli’s attacks tonight didn’t come through the middle of the park and that was due to the fact that Manolas had his area of the pitch covered. Despite a shaky start from the Greek International he kept his focus for the rest of the match.
Federico Fazio (6): Like Manloas, Fazio had his area of the pitch covered and forced Napoli to go out wide. Was also strong from set-pieces.
Aleksandar Kolarov (7): Pocketed José Callejón all night and despite being less offensive than he would have liked he was involved in two of Roma’s four goals.
Radja Nainggolan (7): Less attacking than usual but his job was to stop Napoli’s midfield from controlling the game. Played well alongside Daniele De Rossi.
Daniele De Rossi (7.5): Always present in the middle of the pitch De Rossi maintained his position well and played with elegance. Despite being 34 years old he played like someone in their early 20’s.
Kevin Strootman (7): Like his midfield colleagues, Strootman covered the defence well and his high pressing of Jorginho restricted the Napoli Midfielder from unlocking the Roma Defence.
Cengiz Ünder (7.5): Helped out in attack and defence tonight and ran his socks off. Was helped by a deflection for the goal but his performance was superb. That’s six goals in his last seven appearances for the Giallorossi in all competitions.
Edin Džeko (9): The perfect performance tonight from Džeko. The Bosnian International held up the ball for his teammates and worked hard for Roma all night. His two goals were also outstanding, an unstoppable header and a curling shot from outside the box.
Diego Perotti (6.5): Despite not often tracking back for the team, Perotti helped out helped his Roma teammates out today to stop the threat of Hysaj. Pounced on a defensive error by Mario Rui and scored Roma’s third goal of the night.
Gerson (5): Replaced Ünder but had no involvement upon entering the field of play.
Lorenzo Pellegrini (4): Came on for the last 10 minutes but was at fault for Napoli’s second goal when he was dispossessed too easily outside his own penalty area.
Stephan El Shaarawy (N/A): Replaced De Rossi in the dying moments of the game and no impact on the game.
