After Napoli’s 5-2 win in Europa League against Legia Warsaw to clinch a perfect group stage campaign, the club’s young midfielder/attacker, Omar El Kaddouri, spoke in an interview with Sky Sport.

Here are his comments about the strategy the attack had:

“Playing without Higuain or Gabbiadini, we were set up with three forwards that were not pure strikers. We exchanged positions often and this freed space even for the midfielders as demonstrated by Chalobah’s goal.”

When asked about the team’s approach to the match:

“We know that with Bologna we did not have a positive match. Our coach asked us to make ourselves clear this evening and to have the right mindset so that we can be better prepared for for the match against Roma. Tonight, with the exception of the goals conceded, the performance was positive.”

When asked about the team’s mistakes on defense:

“At the end of the match our coach got a bit mad at the second goal conceded. We relaxed after scoring the fifth goal. We know that these are things the coach hates and he made us take note of it immediately.”

El Kaddouri was also asked about how the squad would celebrate Gonzalo Higuain’s birthday and he said:

“Tonight we are all going to go eat something together to celebrate Higuain’s birthday, but clearly in moderation because on Sunday we have a match.”
